Weekly Update October 15, 2017
What’s Been Going On…
My oldest son finally left home. It was bittersweet. As much as I want him to do something with his life, for his own good, I’m sad to see him go. He went to Navy bootcamp in Chicago. He’ll be there for ten weeks, then go to his job training. I’m not sure when I’ll see him again. But, I’m proud of him. Hopefully, he’ll be able to write or call soon.
On a brighter note, I actually got off my butt and worked on one of my books. Because I let too much time pass since the last time I worked on it, I decided to go back to the beginning. I’m reading what I wrote, making some changes, and recording details. So far, I’ve made it through the first four chapters. I’m going to keep doing this until I get to where I left off writing the last time. Then, I’ll just let my fingers go on the keyboard and see what comes out!
Weird Places Cats Sleep
This is something I’ve been doing for fun for a while now. I have been collecting photos of my cats sleeping in strange places. This is another one of those pics:
I took the drawers out of my desk so I could organize them better. It only took a few minutes before they were claimed by cats. This is just one of the pictures I took. Cats really will sleep anywhere!
Stacking the Shelves
I’m going to be participating in a tour for Victoria Alexander’s new book The Lady Traveler’s Guide to Larceny with a Dashing Stranger, a historical romance novel. The publisher kindly gave me digital copies of both that book and the one that came before it in the series.
We have a page now for our new books, mainly because I tend to forget which ones I got before it came time to make this post. So, I’m just going to make it a habit to add every new book to the page. That way, if I don’t remember to add them here, you can see them all on that page.
I’ve also created a Wish List page, but it’s not finished. I’ll continue to work on this when I have time.

No one was interested in joining the TBR Purge Challenge. I probably won’t quit entirely; I’m just not going to waste time making weekly posts. I still haven’t decided if I am going to delete the old posts to cancel it entirely.

I started working on a page for November new releases. There’s not enough on it yet to publish the page.

Plans for the Upcoming Week…
I was supposed to have read The White Lily by today, but I’m running behind schedule. Hopefully, I’ll finish that one and some others very soon.
On the 17th, we’re featuring some great romance books by St. Martin’s Press. For the 20th, I have another writing pitfall post written and scheduled. Those are the only two things set in stone, but I have other things in the works. My goal is to have at least two posts per day. I’d also like to get at least five new author pages made this week.
I’ll also continue working on my novel. It’s hard to set a word count goal because I’m going to be doing a mixture of editing and writing, so I’ll just set my sights at reaching chapter twelve by the end of the week. Only the first ten chapters have anything written, so that’ll get me writing at least two new ones.
That’s all for the Weekly Update October 15, 2017Β
Thanks for visiting. Please take a moment to vote in the poll on my sidebar. And if you don’t know anything about any of those books, here are two other polls you can take if you want:
Have a great week of reading and whatever else you have planned!

Aww, it is bittersweet when they leave home. *hugs*

Thanks for the hugs. I need it this week, especially considering my daughter’s still in the hospital. I left that part out in my post. She’s coming home tomorrow hopefully.
Good luck with the writing! And it must be bittersweet to have your son leave, best wishes to him and his training!
Have a super week.
Cats do pick the strangest places!

Thanks, Greg! I hope you have a great week too π
Please tell your son thanks for his service. Good luck with your writing. It sounds like you have a lot going on! Have a great week!
Thanks! I will tell him when I get to talk to him π Hopefully, he’ll be allowed to call us soon.
Oh it must have been hard for you to see your son go. I can imagine. It was hard for my mom and me when I had to go to college 3 hours flight away from home. But it’d get easier. Anyway, I voted for romantic suspense because I’m currently in the mood for that genre.
Have a wonderful week and happy reading. β€οΈπ
It was hard, but I’m happy for him. When my middle child leaves for college in August, it’ll be even harder. At least I’ll still have one for a few more years. Thanks for voting! You picked well. I’ve been wanting more romantic suspense too.
You have a very cute cat! And that’s hard and maybe a little bit exciting as well to have the last child leaving home.
My one and only is just five, so I have a ways to go and sometimes he makes me wish it wasn’t so far away, and other times I feel like time has just flown by so quickly.
I still have two more at home. One is 17 so she’ll be leaving in August for college. The other one is 13, so at least I have some time left with him. I know the feeling of time flying by too fast. Wait til yours hits the teen years!
I wish I would have seen your TBR Purge Challenge before!!! I just spent a “Wild” Saturday night going through that beast (although it probably needs another second look in a few weeks). Happy reading + writing and hope you have a good week ahead of you π
I might go back to it. I still like the idea of shaving some books off my list as fast as possible. You’re right it’s a beast!
I dont think u should delete ur old posts. They represent something. Im sure that if one day u look back on it. It’ll be a fond memory.
Anyway, Have a nice weekend!
You’re probably right. And I might still go back to this challenge. I liked the idea of trying to clear out my TBR. Thanks for visiting!
Good luck to your son and you have so many reasons to be proud. I love your site and just checked out your new books page. I hope you like This Monstruous Thing. I read it last year and really loved it. Such a neat retelling of sorts. Good luck with the writing and thanks for stopping by Booker T’s Farm.
Thanks! I haven’t started This Monstrous Thing yet, but I hope to get to it soon. I might bump it up to the top of the pile now π
Your son leaving home definitely sounds hard! π
Good luck with writing your book.
Have a great week and happy reading!

Thanks! So far I haven’t done much writing, but I’m going to try to do some before the weekend.
Awww, I can imagine how hard it was to say goodbye to your son. What a proud mom moment though to know he’s going out there and making something of himself. Haha, that picture of your cat is precious. And yes, they will definitely make anything into a bed!
Thanks for the support! It’s tough but I’m okay because I know it’s what he needs to do.
Good luck to your son and I hope you get to see him soon. The picture of your cat is adorable. We bought a new seat cushion and our dog thinks it’s for her. She tries to lay on it when we are not looking lol. Animals are crazy but brighten up our days. I hope you have a great week and good luck with the writing.

You’re right. They do brighten up our days. (Except when they fight, tear up things, poop on the floor…lol)
Best of luck to your son! And I totally know that deal with the cats sleeping in the most awesome of places π how is that even comfortable? LOL
Yeah, cats are so weird. One time my cat shoved himself inside a box half his size. There’s no way it could have been comfortable, but he fell asleep anyway, with his head hanging over the side.
Love your cat! Saw your new books — A Plague of Giants looks so good! I recently got my husband into the Iron Druid series (he’s done with book 4 and now I need to get the rest for him). Til I do I might just get him this one. Good luck with your writing and thanks for stopping by our blog! ~ Bel
Thanks! Your husband got further than me in the Iron Druid Chronicles. I loved the first book and the one novella I read, but I haven’t made my way back around to continuing. Hopefully he’ll like A Plague of Giants.
Bitter sweet indeed! My daughter will leave in the next year and it is killing me! But she will be successful no doubts. It sounds as if your son has a great game plan in place π And hooray for getting some writing done!
I know how you feel. My daughter will be leaving in 2018 too. We can commiserate!
