Limiting My TBR
My 2018 To-Be-Read Short List is a limited selection of my larger TBR. Instead of trying to read over 3000 books (what’s on my Goodreads to-read shelf), I wanted to narrow it down to a more manageable number.
I picked the books for this list by loosely using several criteria: how past-due my review is, how much I have wanted to read the book, and how many books in that series I still need to get around to reviewing. A lot of these are review copies from authors or publishers that I should have reviewed a long time ago. Some of them are books I read before and never reviewed anywhere, so I need to read again. Others are just ones I have said for a long time that I want to read.
My Goals
I made this list with two goals in mind. One: reduce my Netgalley TBR by half. That’s going to take a lot more than what’s on this list. Two: review 75 books on Goodreads. I don’t think that goal will be too hard, but I limited my list to this number to help me get started.
Adding More to the 2018 To-Be-Read
I’m sure there will be times I need to add books to my to-be-read because I do plan to take part in tours this year, just not as much as I have done in the past. Also, there will be times when an author or publisher asks me to review a book and I’ll need to add the new book. But, I don’t plan on adding to the original list of seventy-five books. I’m going to make a separate list below it. There will also be a couple of lists added for challenges I decided to take on this year.
