Weekly Update October 22 [Sunday Post/Stacking the Shelves]

Welcome to the weekly update (October 22nd) on BTH Reviews!

BTH Reviews Weekly Update (September 3)

This is our chance to talk about things going on in our lives, share new books we’ve received, and recap the previous week’s posts. I link this post up to two popular book blogger memes: The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves.

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It’s a chance for book bloggers to share news, give updates, and recap the previous week.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It’s a weekly meme to share your new books.

Weekly Update October 22, 2017

What’s Been Going On…

Not much new happened this week off the blog. I didn’t get any writing done, but I worked on the blog every day after I got home from busting my butt in the backroom of a retail store. Lots of coffee and Diet Coke got me through it.

Weird Places Cats Sleep

This is something I’ve been doing for fun for a while now. I have been collecting photos of my cats sleeping in strange places. This is another one of those pics:

Shadow in laundry basket

This picture was taken in 2012. I’m not sure whose toe that is! Must be me or my daughter because of the nail polish.

The cat’s name is Shadow. He’s my third youngest cat, around 6 years old now. So, at the time this was taken, he was barely an adult. He hasn’t changed much, though.

I guess a laundry basket full of socks and other stuff isn’t that unusual for a cat.

I think why I like this picture so much is because of the position of his body.

How can that be comfortable?

Plus, he kind of looks like he’s smiling in his sleep.

I received a copy of “Hallow be the Haunt” by Heather Graham for an upcoming tour. Also, I got a digital copy of Stranger Magics by Ash Fitzsimmons fStranger Magics coverrom Harper Voyager.

One book I forgot to mention last week, but really am excited about reading, is World Tree Girl by Kerry Schafer, which she kindly sent me because I reviewed the first book in the series.

I also downloaded some free ebooks from Amazon and author newsletters.

We have a page now for our new books. I’m terrible at keeping track of what I get, unless they’re ones on my review schedule. So, as I remember books I’ve gotten, I add them to the page.

I’ve also created a Wish List page, but it’s not finished. I’ll continue to work on this when I have time.

Challenges & Games

I’ve decided to cancel the TBR Purge Challenge. It will restart at the beginning of December. Hopefully, the next time there will be more interest in participating. If not, I’ll just plow forward with it because I really need to do it and get my TBR reduced. I’m waiting until December because I already have a lot of reading commitments for October and November.

Book Releases

I continued working on the November new releases page. It isn’t quite ready yet, but I’ll have it done before the end of the month.

I posted my top picks of book releases for October 17th.

Other blog-related Activities

I updated a lot of pages. I also moved our schedule from a Google Doc to a Google Calendar to better keep track of tours, reviews, interviews, release dates, and more. This is just for our purposes, but it’s very important because we don’t want conflicts between top posts. I like having it on the calendar now, so I can easily look at what I need to write or post. It’s more visual, and it’s easier to see where we have openings and how much space I have between reviews (easy to tell because I made my scheduled reviews a different color).

Plans for the Upcoming Week…

I’m not going to make a lot of plans for this upcoming week. I feel kind of like I’ve been setting myself up for failure by trying to plan too much out ahead of time. So, other than things that are on the schedule that I have committed to doing on a specific date, I’m not going to pressure myself about posting a certain amount of posts or writing so many chapters or pages. I’ll just do as much as I can.

On the schedule

Monday: Night Realm blitz; Dark Justice blitz; January in Atlantis cover reveal

Tuesday: Fall of a Blood Moon tour; The White Lily review; Top Picks of Book Releases

Wednesday: Second Sight tour; Book Cover to Blurb Matching Game #2

Thursday: From the Ash guest post; Heroes and Hellions blitz; Writer’s Corner guest post (guest TBA)

Friday: Writing Pitfall #4

Saturday: Neverwhere Illustrated Edition review

  1. I use the Google calendar for my blog, too. It makes it so much easier, and as long as you have access to the internet, you can access it anywhere. Anything set in stone for publishers, I always post with ‘red’ so I know they are set in stone.

I hope you have a great week!

    • I like your idea about putting the ones set in stone in red. I made reviews one color, promos another color, and all the other posts like memes, features, etc. in a third color. Thanks for stopping by!
