Weekly Update October 1, 2017

What’s Been Going On…

So… Today is October 3rd. I’m just now getting around to doing the post for October 1st. That’s an indication of what the last week was like. I didn’t post anything for most of the week because I was working late some days and going in early on other days. When I wasn’t working, I was trying to read or work on my new TBR list.

I almost considered skipping this post for this week, but I decided to go ahead and get it done so I wouldn’t feel guilty. Better late than never, I guess.

Stacking the Shelves

Today, I received two books from Netgalley. One is A Grave Search by Wendy Roberts. Although Netgalley and Goodreads don’t have a cover or description yet for this book, I took a chance because I’ve enjoyed books by Wendy Roberts before. She usually writes paranormal cozy mysteries.

The other is an urban fantasy by Kevin Hearne called The Squirrel on the Train. It’s part of a spinoff series from his Iron Druid Chronicles. This one is told from the perspective of the dog, Oberon, which should be entertaining.

In the mail, I received a hardcover edition of Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, courtesy of William Morrow. It’s the new illustrated edition.

I’ve put these on my schedule to get them read in a reasonable amount of time.

I also downloaded a box set for free on Barnes and Noble. It was the first three books by Annie Bellet. They are urban fantasy novels I have been wanting to read for a while.

What I Posted Since the Last Update…

On September 24, I posted a review of Ravensblood by Shawna Reppert. This is an urban fantasy novel.

On October 1, I posted a review of High Child by J.T. Bishop. This one is a science fiction/mystery novel.

On September 24, I posted a blitz with excerpt for Honest Intentions by Kennedy Layne. This is a romantic suspense novel.

On October 1, we participated in a blog tour for Eric Asher’s urban fantasy novel, The Witch Queen’s War. This post includes an excerpt and a giveaway for a $25 Amazon gift card.

Challenges

Week 2 TBR Purge Results

I missed the week 3 challenge post. Hopefully I will get that up tomorrow.

Book Releases

Another week passed where I didn’t get around to doing the book releases post. Shame on me!

Articles

I didn’t post any, but I wrote one. As soon as I add an image, I’ll get it posted. It’s about factors that influence my decision to read or not read books (other than just the cover).

Plans for the Upcoming Week…

When I’m not at work, I plan to continue what I have been working on with my TBR list. Also, I will be reading several books. I have to read The Bloodprint and review it by my tour stop on October 6. So, at the very least, I know that one will get finished. I hope to get at least one or two others finished as well.

I didn’t get any writing done last week, and I really want to start making it a priority. I’m going to try to figure out a way to block out time for writing. I should come up with a schedule to balance reading, writing reviews, working on blog pages, and writing my own book. If I would manage my time better, I could probably get more accomplished each week. I’m tired of always saying I didn’t get anything done. It’s hard, though, to do all the things I want to do in between working, taking care of the kids, doing laundry, and cleaning. I’m sure you can all relate, even if you don’t have kids. There’s always more to do than time to do it in.

Anyway, if I get half of what I want to do actually done, I’ll feel pretty good about myself. At least I’ll have tried!

That’s all for the Weekly Update October 1, 2017 (actually posted October 3rd, lol)

Have a great week of reading and whatever else you have planned!
