Flame in the Dark is the third installment in the Soulwood series. This urban fantasy novel is due to release December 5, 2017 by Ace/Roc.
Blurb for Flame in the Dark:
Nell Ingram has always known she was different. Since she was a child, she’s been able to feel and channel ancient powers from deep within the earth. When she met Jane Yellowrock, her entire life changed, and she was recruited into PsyLED—the Homeland Security division that polices paranormals. But now her newly formed unit is about to take on its toughest case yet.
A powerful senator barely survives an assassination attempt that leaves many others dead—and the house he was visiting burns to the ground. Invisible to security cameras, the assassin literally disappears, and Nell’s team is called in. As they track a killer they know is more—or less—than human, they unravel a web of dark intrigue and malevolent motives that tests them to their limits and beyond.
Misty’s review of FLAME IN THE DARK
I read Flame in the Dark because I had already read the first two installments to the Soulwood series and loved them. This is one of my favorite series by Faith Hunter. I love the worlds that she creates.
Although I received a free advanced reading copy for review, my opinions are my own.
Nell Ingram is human with the ability to use ancient magic that comes from the earth.
She is a team member in the PsyLED division of Homeland Security. Her role on the team is to help investigate and solve crimes committed by the paranormal community.
For me the whole series flowed perfect from book one to Flame in the Dark. The scenes in the book flow harmoniously and the characters work great together. Faith Hunter add the action and romance in the perfect places in the story to make it a great read. I also like the way the characters throughout the story interacted with one another.
Do I Recommend?
Yes I seriously recommend the whole Soulwood series. This is an excellent series and one I know for a fact that I will be rereading in the near future. While I was reading Flame in the Dark I felt as though I was a part of the story.
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars (A)
