Top 10: Best PNR Series about Vampires

If you’re a fan of adult paranormal romance, you’ve probably read your share of books with vampires as the main characters. The characters aren’t always called vampires, but they have vampire traits like needing blood to survive.

True to paranormal romance style, there is usually a lot of lust and angst in these books. But many of us read them because we love the idea of a smoking hot, immortal guy who is strong, protective, and tender with his lover. Of course, not all of these series follow that exactly, and some authors mix in humor to liven up the story.

Because the stories vary so much, I don’t think it’s fair to rank them. One isn’t necessarily better than the other; they’re just different.

Top 10 Best Paranormal Romance Series about Vampires

Here are ten of the best paranormal romance series about vampires:

Argeneau by Lynsay Sands

This series begins with A Quick Bite. Currently, there are 27 books in this series. The 28th book, Twice Bitten, is expected to release in March 2018.

Guardians of Eternity by Alexandra Ivy

This series started with When Darkness Comes. The series ended in 2015 with When Darkness Ends.

Half-Moon Hollow by Molly Harper

As of today, there are six books in this series; the most recent was published in 2017. It is a spin-off of another vampire series she wrote, called Jane Jameson. The first book in the Half-Moon Hollow series is The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires.

Immortal Guardians by Dianne Duvall

The most recent book is Blade of Darkness, published in 2017. It was the seventh book in the series.

If you haven’t read any of the Immortal Guardians series yet, you can start with Darkness Dawns.

Love at Stake by Kerrelyn Sparks

This series begins with How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire. I am not certain, but I think this series is done. The author published the most recent book in 2014. It was the 16th in the series.

Scandals with Bite by Brooklyn Ann

I haven’t personally read any books by Brooklyn Ann, but I am adding it to this list because Misty (my co-blogger) loves this series. It’s a mixture of historical romance and paranormal romance. The 6th book came out last month.

The Dark Ones by Katie MacAlister

This series started with A Girl’s Guide to Vampires in 2003. As of today, there are eleven books, the most recent one being The Vampire Always Rises, published in 2017.

Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward

Dark Lover is the first book in the series. The sixteenth book is expected to be released in 2018.

Night Huntress by Jeaniene Frost

This is the first series; there have been spin-offs since this one was written. I haven’t read any of those yet, so I’m only listing the series that started it all. It began with Halfway to the Grave. The seventh (and last) book in the series was published in 2014.

Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole

Although I’m on the fence about this series because I feel like consent is questionable, Misty loves it. I’m going to read more of the series to see if I still feel this way. But I’m putting it on the top 10 list for her. Also, I know there are a lot of fans and I might be in the minority that doesn’t love it.

There is a spin-off of this series as well.

The first book is The Warlord Wants Forever. It’s a novella that can be found in a couple of different anthologies. Or it can be purchased separately in ebook format.

This is just a start! I plan to post more paranormal romance series we love.

I also plan to post about urban fantasy series that have vampires as the main characters, and then post about other creatures besides vampires.

If you have any specific genres or themes you would like me to make a top ten list for, please let me know in the comments.

Have you read any of these paranormal romance series with vampires as the main characters?

What did you think?

Which is your favorite or least favorite?
